This one-day freediving class is perfect for anyone 16+ looking to build a strong foundation in freediving. It combines classroom learning with hands-on water training to teach safety skills, breath-hold techniques, and freediving fundamentals.
In just one day, participants learn to hold their breath up to 3 minutes and gain the skills needed to dive confidently and safely, making it ideal for beginners or water enthusiasts seeking efficient, practical training. Upon completing this course, you will receive a FII Level 1 Pool Only certification to recognize your accomplishment.
You can then build upon the FII Level 1 Pool Only certification by signing up for the open water portion of this course when you are ready at an additional cost of $300 + ferry ticket.

About
During this course, key academic information is first explained in a classroom setting and then practiced in a controlled confined water environment.
The training for students consists of safety and problem management, proper freediving gear selection, fundamentals of breathing techniques for freediving, understanding of freediving physics and physiology and how these components affect their technique and performance during freediving activities.
Participants are trained to hold their breath up to 3 minutes and establish the foundation for proper freediving techniques and safety.

Prerequisites
-Competent swimming skills
-Participants must be 16 years or older
-Equipment: Wetsuit, mask, snorkel, long blade fins, weight belt, weights and timing device
2 Steps to Certification
Step 1: In person classroom session
Step 2: Pool training (same day as classroom)
And that's it! you're FII Level 1 Pool certified!
Duration
Day 1:
-Classroom Session: 8am-1pm - Spear America, Costa Mesa
-Pool Session: 2pm-5pm - Location TBD
Learning Materials:
FII Level 1 Freediver manual and workbook. Course materials are provided by the instructor at the beginning of each course.
Gear
Students can purchase or rent gear at Spear America at least 1 day prior to their scheduled classroom session. Students receive discounts on gear purchases. Proper gear is extremely important to your safety and success for this course. We do not allow bodyboarding, surfing, snorkeling or scuba gear to be used for this course.
