SpearPro Freediver float 25psi

I was looking for a float for freedive training and to carry a game bag. I considered several options before purchasing the SpearPro float. The float has sturdy handles top and bottom around the circumference of the float, plus a generous number of steel D rings throughout for securing lines and gear. The material the float is built from is rugged, with high quality seams. Being a high pressure float it has a SUP style valve that can lock open or closed, and the valve is vastly superior to the pool toy style valves found on lesser floats. I’ve used the old-school floats previously that are skins stretched over an inner tube, and although cheaper they don’t last, plus I’ve never seen one with all the handles and attachment points the SpearPro float comes with. When comparing the cost of the SpearPro float vs others on Amazon or eBay it was easy to go with the SpearPro- I have no doubt the float will last a long time plus I’ve received excellent service from Spear America over the years. Just buy this float and be done with it.

This float is way overbuilt - in the best way! Carried my static line and 25 pound weight perfectly. Taught a class of 4 off of this float and everyone had room to rest on its large footprint. Definitely buying another!

I’ve been wanting to upgrade my old “car inner tube covered in a nylon carcass” freediving floats for a while. This one from Spearpro is the bees knees. So many nice features including the little hole on the top to pass your rope through so you can store unused rope inside. There’s an internal D-ring as well as a built in attachment point for your dive line under the hood too. May D-rings and loops on the outside to attach things like water bottles etc. Easy to inflate. Used in conjunction with an Octopus Diving pulley system this is money well spent if you teach freediving. I’m ordering another one!

I was dissapointed that the float does not come with a flag and also seems not to fit many common dive flags using PVC pipe. I'm not even sure what flat is on the market that would work well with this setup, as there is not a good base to keep the pole from poking through the bottom.

The float itself seems well made and I definately appreciate the handles on the bottom of the float and quick dry time of the waterproof material. Time will tell how it holds up, but my initial impression is that it is well made.
